Diminished Capacity

Starring: Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda, Dylan Baker, and Virginia Madsen

Alan Alda and Matthew Broderick are a bit off their game, or are they?

Terry Kinney's delightful film presents an odd couple not quite functioning on all cylinders. Matthew Broderick plays a Chicago newspaper editor who's suffered a concussion that's left him unfocused. He travels home to rural Missouri to visit his aging and increasingly senile uncle, played by the great Alan Alda. During the visit the uncle reveals a rare baseball card, prompting the two addled men to head back to Chicago -- along with the nephew's high school sweetheart (Madsen) -- in the hopes of selling the card at a sports memorabilia convention.
