The people of Cuba selected 100 sones ("sounds" or "tunes") to integrate a compilation album with the most relevant and recognized of this native genre.

A small expedition travels throughout the island in search of the roots and essence of their music, documenting all of their experiences in this film full of humor, and authentic Creole and Cuban music, which tries to rescue figures and protagonists of the emergence and development of the Cuban "son."

The presentation of the film Los 100 Sones Cubanos is a perfect fit with the exhibit Sonido Pirata: What You Need You Have To Borrow at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. Curated by Julio César Morales, Sonido Pirata runs from Sept. 17, 2011, through Jan. 1, 2012.
